Spring Term - 2024
The spring term has been a mix of Power Hours, family engagement training sessions and ongoing 1:1 support and networking for the providers. We have linked providers together and have chosen topics where we know there are shared challenges, such as areas of deprivation, SEND and mixed ages within a provision. As a group we have discussed together and ideas have been shared on how Healthy Movers can be used effectively and to maximise impact.
A key learning has been the challenges that some childminders have faced especially with the ability attending meetings virtually when they may work alone or in busier provisions with children present at all times. As a way to work around this and be able to offer support, we were invited to attend a childminder group session in Poole where there where three Healthy Movers champions at the session.
We supported them by delivering a card to 20 combined children and they facilitated the session. After the activity card was finished we discussed how to continue learning from links made in the physical session and in response to the children's interests from the activity.
Healthy Mover Champions have reported that the Power Hour has had a positive response from staff members, is a great way to get all staff understanding Healthy Movers, is delivered at a really fast pace with lots of information and has been very beneficial with adults and children now joining in. Staff are definitely getting more confident and are having a go at delivering Healthy Movers. The children love Healthy Movers time and they get so excited!
